Greetings Divers!!!

From Darth Vern . . .
The report is short this week, so I decided to add one of the best pictures I have seen in some time. A bunch of Smokeys divers are headed to the Surface Interval this weekend for a "numbers dive." A dive which is believed to be something, but is probably a big pile of sh*t!!! But you never know until you dive it and we will!!!

I have labeled this picture "Twinkie's"
in honor of our D.I.T.S [Divemaster In Training]
left to right Bryan Palmer, Scott Steinbacher, Chris Mayo, Nate Brommer

Thursday- I do not need to mention the place, you all know where I was- Some weeks, most in fact, we start in on each other as soon someone pulls in. And while the debate was lively, and after all the consideration it deserved.... Dave my answer is still, No. Ah, but on with the diving! Tom had an ocean to burn off, and I don't really metabolize oxygen so we decided to head for the tanker. The plan was simple, beuatiful, and sound ... three words that tell you we didn't excaltly dive our plan. We planned to head out to the Quest, mixer, pipe and then go along the bottom to run into the habait where we'd pick up the line to the tanker. The part where we go along the bottom and run into the habait is where simple, beuatiful and sound escape to the surface with the exhaust bubbles. Short version, I didn't locate the habait.

Saturday- Bainbridge- The crowds are dropping like flies, but the water ain't much colder. This is the perfect time to be out diving. You don't even need your argon bottle yet! I was a little surprised to see Bud, it's been awhile, but he's got the cutest little set of doubles it's always a pleasure. Kulp and I went in for what we like most, lengthy dives with a hearty depth. Time down in the hole right now is wonderful, it's a night dive at 10am!! In between dives there was this curious fellow strolling around looking for someone to dive with. We said we'd be deep, long and after seeing his wetsuit we mentioned the bottom temp. He said it wasn't a problem. Konrad's been diving wrecks in the Baltic for quite awhile. So we headed back toward the hole. It's worth noting that at no time up to this point had we seen a fish. The wall is nice. The hole in the wall has all the fish! Loaded wall to wall with sunfish.

Coming next week: Tales from far off lands. Exciting new diving locations. That's right, I'm diving somewhere other than a quarry! I didn't get any wrecks trips this year, my cave class didn't work out. But I can find a lake to go diving in. Hey it ain't a quarry.
