| Greetings to the Great Quarry Divers From Bryan Palmer . . . Saturday saw the rock and I hitting up BSC around 11 am for one dive. W entered from the top of the hill and took a heading over to the platform where we dropped down to see how comfortable the rock was with his new DOUBLES!!! Yes he is the next to have joined the ranks of the double tank divers. We continued our dive with me checking my new camera housing for leaks. As our dive continued we dropped down along the south wall deeper and deeper into the foggy abyss. The housing with held it all that put a great big smile on my face. Scott and I continued our dive bringing our level up and little. We ended our dive with a run time of 47 minutes and a total depth of 99 feet. From there we headed back to the dive shop where we were visited by the rare and elusive and one of a kind Denny Leese and Rick Huck. Sunday came quickly. A small but strong group of shaggy scruffy divers assembled at bsc. This group consisted of Cindy Lu Who, Nate Brommer, Frankenhuck, diver Paul and Suzie. Huck, Nate and myself geared up and headed down to the deep boat. Where we encountered a lot of a foggy haze and then we headed over towards the ledge where Nate and I found ourselves separated from Huck. We waited the 2 minutes and then headed back to the entry point where we spotted Huck and then went to do our second dive over to the lagoon to play with the fish in the grass there were a few pictures taken with my new digital camera of the fish. We exited and then warmed up for a little while. I just want to make a side note. THIS IS WINTER DIVING SEASON- if you are diving be prepared to stay warm before during and especially after the dive. Blankets, HATS, GLOVES, and JACKETs. Additional things like hand and body warmers can be used with dry suits. If you are diving in wetsuits which leave only the few and selectively crazy limit the length of your dive to a predetermined time and don’t be scared to call it off early, Remember diving is meant to be enjoyed. You cannot enjoy it is you are cold and uncomfortable. Suzie and I headed into the lagoon for a second dive for here and a third dive for myself. We headed to the grass to see the fish and just around the area for a scenic tour. From Andrea . . . I just got back from a trip to disney with the family for the holiday and had the chance to go "behind the scenes" at Epcot. The living seas exhibit at Epcot offer a chance for certified divers to dive in their coral reef, its a 27ft deep, 203ft wide tank full of all kinds of reef life, including brown and black nosed sharks, eagle rays and grouper. This was my first experience diving in salt water and it was great. You can play around with all the other vistors and people in the resturant that have a view into the tank and go into the bubble. The bubble is in the center of the tank and you can go in,remove or regulator and such. Even the experienced divers in the group had a blast. The eagle rays came within a few feet of us and the grouper just kind of eyed us from the bottom. If your ever in disney or Epcot you should look into this, they give you a video of the dive as well. From Darth Vern . . . I have included a few pics from my recent trip to the Baltimore Aquarium with my daughter Alyssa. All these animals pics were shot from outside the glass. But they came out pretty well. The 2 pictures of the Leafy Sea Dragon are from the Seattle Aquarium from my recent visit out to Seattle!!! Keep on diving and LIVE THE ADVENTURE!!! |
