Greetings Divers!!!

From Jess Zellers . . .
After a long laboring at the work bench, the little bundle of joy was ready to meet the world (errrr... water). It's a regulator!! If anybody's wondering, Dive Rite's the father. I was up there for a good hour, changing my former reg setup to go on an H-valve. The biggest chunk of that being spent on removing hose protectors Cindy was ever so kind to put on. After the 20mins or so I spend getting the first one off while pacing and practicing my swearing, I told Cindy what I thought of hose protectors . . . Apparently you're supposed use a heat gun.

Now I realize Smokey's have only been a DiveRite dealer for two months or so, but when Cindy told me no one else had gotten one yet I was a bit surprised. So I guess the honor of the first review is mine too. Part of my surprise in no one taking a chance of a new line, is when you look at their specs -- it's a good high end reg. Built to dive: Deep, long, cold ... whatever! I know eveybody's pretty crazy over Mares, and they're not a bag reg, but the ones I've tried are heavy and/or just a pain. My DiveRite did just as good and better than any Mares I've ever used. And neutrally buoyant in the water, I didn't know it was there... it's like breathing air out of water. Built like a brick. And with all the features of a high end reg, at a very good price (and I'm a college student saying that!!!)

Now Thursday nights dive was shallow and pretty short by Kulp's and my standards and cold. So I only got to test it out on the cold factor. But I could tell it was a workhorse bitting at the chump to go deeper and get a workout. And so was I!! Unfortunately Bainbridge is frozen over, Wabanks closed, and I don't have the time to run to Mt Storm in the near future. So after I get the reg in some depth, the final review will be in. Right now it's gonna be very good review!!

And to everyone who's had a good time over the past years bustin' on me for the crappy regs... If you've read through this far, you know I got a good reg now. With a sweet set up of gear, one hell of a buddy, and one of the best lights around. As enjoyable as it's been, ya'll gotta find someone else to harass about gear now!!

From Darth Vern . . .
I was out Sunday with the Columbia No 1 Fire Dept. helping them conduct their Ice Rescue training at Grubb Lake in West Hempfield. [see the pics] What a great day with a bunch of guys I do not get a chance to see much! We practiced in and on the ice for about 5 hrs. Jennifer Sherlock of WPMT Fox 43 came out to cover the training for the 10 oclock news this past Sunday! We all had a great time and did some good training.

So while I am on the subject, I have a tentative agreement with Heather to come out this Sunday and cover Smokeys Divers retrieving the Xmas tree from under the ice. It should be a great day and superb exposure for the shop. Everyone who can please come out and support the shop!!! We need tenders and divers!!!

We are also planning some ice diving THIS Saturday to shoot the underwater footage for Fox 43 to use in their report on Sunday! We could really use everyone out and having fun [as we always do] and supporting Smokeys Divers Den!!! All are welcome, especially if you come bearing food for the cold masses!!!!!!

Please check you email this week, Mark will be sending more definitive information over the email list very soon or you can call the shop and Cindy can give you the information!!!

Keep on diving and LIVE THE ADVENTURE!!!
