| Greetings To The World's Greatest Divers!!! From Tom Pritchard . . . Great Spring viz. arrived at Willow last night, right on time. 35+ ft in the bowl and out to the mixer. I backed off the mixer so I could take it all in, stem to stern. From atop the mixer you could see the RR tracks exit in front of the bumper and head to the pipe; awesome! You could actually tell the Quest was a boat, imagine that. James Z-Man realized last night that one of the boats in the bowl is truly lying on a 45 degree angle; until last night he thought he was swimming at a 45 degree angle. It was so clear that Roger Heins found the Sartek clip that Gerhard Maree lost last week near the Quest. G-Man and Z-Man continued to work on their wreck reel skills in preparation for their first ocean dives in early May. If you're hitting the east coast wrecks this summer, practice using your wreck reel before you hit the boardwalk. The same with new gear; take it for a spin in the quarry before hitting the boats. With the such outstanding viz, we're going to have to look for the phantom building next week, no doubt about it. I was too heavy and too lopsided in my first foray in a new doubles rig to try to manage a wreck reel too; maybe next week. Last year the great viz at Willow lasted a couple of weeks and should not be missed. With clear water, it's a whole new quarry. It was getting dark as we exited and the viz was getting a little milky by then. 76 minutes, 50 degree water and light rain. We would have stayed in longer, but we were afraid the other TNIs wouldn't save us any cheesecake. Get out and dive! From Huck . . . It was a good dive but no Nick. The hole is still open. Sucky from the Surface to about 50'. Dove with my Xvision with the new prescription from Prescription Dive Masks. They did a good job. From Bryan Palmer . . . Saturday, we planned on meeting a few minutes later then normal, something to do with huckster and a GIANT shaggy koosh ball having to be dropped off. So I meet the crew John Gross (Newly Certified Master Scuba Instructor, I think that is right) and his loyal following if DIT’s, ahh how great it is to say that and not be the one that it is referring to, it kind of just rolls off your tongue like a …. Um yeah-good stopping spot back to diving. Anyways DIT’s JZ, Tom Pritchard, and Gerhard Maree were present as well as our newest Assistant Instructor Pete Bohling! Everyone should congratulate the 2 of them on these achievements next time they see them. They work very hard from what I have heard. And there 2 students Jeff and Kristi Raykos, yes that is right 2 we go above and beyond the duty to make sure our students are watched and carefully and monitored at all times to ensure comfort ability. Yeah and someone has to watch those DIT’s too. Bill Siwiec was there with Speedy doing a Dry suit class oh did I mention Bill stoll my dive buddy the Rock, it was good diving with you too!!! No, seriously Instructors need all the help they can get so I understand dive buddy, Ill catch up with you later Rock. I met up with the “Handsome one” Mayo and huckster and started to gear up. 10:45 and no sign of Sharon well that we saw so we hit the water oh wait there she was, we had a little communication problem on time. Sorry we must be using Imperial clocks not metric Sharon. I was doing 2 dives so I caught up with her, on the second one. So in we went I was using my NEW DIVE RITE HID light did I mention NEW. We entered in the shallow and dropped over the road and down the south side of the road after about 40 feet of so so water we hit Jackpot crystal clear Quarry Water. Wow does that HID Light really work!!! Colors I never saw before underwater. And NO I wasn’t Narc’d we ran into johns class coming down the stairs where we had a slight communication problem, and moved on to the deep boat. No I have always wanted to be a cowboy on the prairie with a bunch of wild horses and what not but when John did his recall for times um for his students I had that dream satisfied being between a group of students and DIT’s and there well goal of moving to shallower water, I successfully achieved a Stampede of the underwater sorts. As for my dive Buddies Huck and Mayo I think they “Ate the Dust” as they say. After covering the whole we headed along the south wall and up for some clear water. This is not a widely visited area and offers lots of cool Man Made formations Geologically speaking. We came up and finished our/My deco and headed for our exit point. 59 minutes total runtime not to shabby!!! After a surface interval and some conversing Sharon “the brit” as she refers to her self and I Dove together. After some reassurance that I would not leave her behind we entered the water , we covered the road down to the 90ft ledged where there is some cool visual effects from the algae turning over as bill enlightened us to. And over to the deep boat and then down the stairs to the deeper boat. What fun is this!!!! WOW HID Rocks. After Sharon was content on our explorations we headed for shallower water and ended up in the shallows for some off gassing time and a run time of 49 minutes. To Sharon’s surprise I can move in slow motion. And her tank was now, MUCH lighter then when we had entered. All and all it was a Great day, accompanied by Wonderful spring weather. I headed into the shop from there hoping to work on some of my personal gear but was so KINDLY asked by Cindy lu PLEASE PLEASE go help Kent with Discover scuba so off I went to Lancaster YMCA downtown only about 1 block away to work with discover scuba lots of people trying it out and just enjoying the awe’s of diving in a pool so there I added another hour of pool diving. As Owner Mark had asked me only a few minutes earlier did I get my Nitrogen Fix? After Saturday I think I can say Yes Truthfully! Get your Gear in to be serviced if it hasn’t been done already and get out and dive. I’m trying to get back to being and Irregulars on Thursday irregularly and doing lots of diving. I hoping to get out in the ocean this weekend for my birthday dive so look for a report next week. I’ll be out in the quarry Sunday to dive with my friend Scuba Steve anyone is welcome to join. GET out and dive, since it has been wet this week might as well get wet doing something you LIKE, GO DIVING!!! From Darth Vern . . Classes are starting up, dive boats are revving and spring is almost upon us! It is definately time to get out and dive. We have divers all over. Bainbridge, Dutch Springs, Willow Springs and Palmer is even on the Tuna Seizure this Saturday. I am doing my best to join him, anyone else? There are some great deals going on in the shop, pick up some new gear this spring and get it ready for the dive season!! Keep on diving and LIVE THE ADVENTURE!!! |
