Greetings Divers!!!

From Darth Vern . .
Since me and Uptown Brown got blown out from from Beaufort NC and I figured none of the East Coast boats were getting out either, I decided to hitch a ride on a charter from Sea and Sky in Prescott, Ontario, Canada. I posted the story and pictures here in the photo albums.

The reports seem to be slowing down, but everyone is still out diving! Call Cindy at the shop 717-393-5333 or email her here

From Bob Hanna . . .
Dive Masters Bob Hanna and Ralph Spayd hosted and dove with Cathleen Kohr and Hollie Bratton both of whom did both their first Quarry Dives and cold water dives. The Gazebo kept the rain under control, the food was as promised, and the VIZ was in the 50 foot range. The first (40 minute) dive was all about buoyancy and navigation and going below the thermocline at approximately 40 feet. On the second dive ( 50 minutes) we visited the Helicopter and most of the "stuff" around the Island. They had a good time. We had a good time and they now have I Flew A Sikorsky H-37 Under Water at Dutch Springs shirts.

Neither diver new anything about Pennsylvania's Quarries or any other local diving before yesterday. They will keep diving which is what its all about.

Also Gerard is going to look at Diving in October on Saturday the 18th or Sunday the 19th from the Boat Called The Tuna Seizure. This Boat takes 6 divers, and sleeps 6. Daily Boat fees are around $75. Hopefully no more hurricanes.

Anyone interested can e-mail me.

I used to Dive quite a lot in New Jersey waters when I lived near Philadelphia. It takes a certain amount of effort, expense and planning to do this type of diving but it can be a nice change of pace from the Quarry's. If you are interested but haven't been diving in a while perhaps a Quarry dive between now and then would be a good idea.

I did all of my Advanced check out dives on wrecks in New Jersey. In those days no instructor or dive master did the actual dives with the "students" Check out dives including the use of upline reels and lift bags which each student was required to purchase were done with the instructor present during the Quarry practice dives but not the ocean dives. Upline reels, lift bags, reels and pony bottles were all required equipment for dives in excess of 100 feet. I have been in situations where all of that gear was used. Times have changed some.

The place to practice is at one of the Quarry's such as Dutch, Willow or Bainbridge. The place to put practice to use is in the Ocean.

Keep on diving and LIVE THE ADVENTURE!!!
