Hello Divers,

Thursday, May 8th

April showers have brought the May flowers. And also with it, the visibility has increased each day to the point that today I could just make out the shadow of the sub. April also brought us the dismal news of the passing of Diver Dan Meyers. These last few months while other divers were tardy. I had the privilege of spending time with Dan, munching on two month old doughnuts and marveling that any human could live and function on such a diet let alone dive like he did. To the Meyr family, Mark and all the gang at Smokies especially his diving buds, we at Wabank send our deepest sympathies and prayers to you all. It was quite a testimony as to who Dan is to see a church packed by all those who knew and loved him. We all are going to spend more time on the other side than we ever do here,

so I look forward to seeing Dan again. However, he probably will have already dove half the great sites before us and tell us incessantly how great they all are. Miss ya Dan...

The lake will be open Wednesday evenings are begining on May 7th. Starting on the 11th, we are going to try and do a little something different with the food. Every Wednesday, Wabank will supply the weenies, sausage, burgers, bottled water and whatever. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish or snack to share. It will cost $3.00 per non diver and members. All non-members will be $10.00. We are trying to make it fair for all involved. Again, please bring an additional dish to share.

Jimmy Miller was up to his old sinking boat maneuvers, while organizing a phenomenal work day Sunday. He expertly place the second to the last boat in at 60 ft and 40 yards from the large swim thru. (No name yet. suggestions??) Another rowdy bunch stood up the habitat and started to fill her. In addition, the new underwater ATM station was set up in the 20 ft range in the cove. Our thanks to all who helped and a special thanks to all who contributed food for the occasion. Final adjustments will be made this weekend so let us know if you can come out.

In the future the landscape will be changing. The parking lot over the next year may be changing locations. For now while the earth is being moved, you will be able to drive up and drop your equipment. We will keep you informed. It has always been our goal to keep the number of divers in the water at the area from 15 to 20 people at a time. Please call ahead and plan your dive and dive your plan. We want your dive experience to be safe, fun and non crowed. We will be expanding hours and as always for the off times we are open for your convenience. Four or more divers by appointment only please.

Lastly Wabank was honored to be picked to supply 6 of our 1.5 lb striped bass for a national company's promotional fishing contest. Our meanest were picked, tagged and set free in undisclosed bodies of waters in the area. Listen for the details on the radio one of them could be worth a million dollars! Happy Fishing but not at Wabank please! The feeders were released, the catfish and bass are doing great! A rumor I am officially starting is that Chef Ralph Mazzie will come down to fillet and cook the first fish!! What about it Ralph??

Hope to see you on the bottom soon...
