| To Our Family and Friends, Our Dive Family and Friends, Our Disaster Family and Friends, Our Gasmark/UGI Family and Business Friends, Four weeks after losing our son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend, we are still at a loss for a reason. Dan, an expert diver and among the top ten divers on the East coast, had a successful dive at Willow springs Park, and signaled his dive buddies to surface from the platform where they were stopped on their way out of the water. When he did not follow in a reasonable amount of time, the buddies returned to the water to look for him. Dan was found unresponsive in 15 feet of water. The initial investigation of the equipment has shown no malfunction. The autopsy resulted in no conclusive cause. Not having an answer adds to our grief and frustration. There seems to be no 'closure.' Dan's earthly body has been cremated and the final resting place for his ashes will be the ocean, a place he loved, respected, and found peace. We believe his soul has gone on to a better place with God. Someone said we "will get through this tragic time in our lives with family, friends, and faith." It has taken all three to bring comfort. There are no words or ways to express our appreciation to you for being there for us. The many notes, cards, flowers, visits, food, phone calls and prayers have all aided our healing. It was overwhelming to see the number of persons at the memorial service. Your presence and remembrances will remain with us always. We are thankful for the wonderful video that was put together by the people at Smokey's Divers Den. A special thanks to our pastors, organist, chorister, Karen, and to those who shared memories for a beautiful and healing memorial service. Thank you to the ladies of the church for serving lunch. Thanks to all of you who joined us the day of the service. When it seems like we can't go on one more minute, someone calls or emails or visits and provides encouragement. Dan's death leaves us with a huge void and sadness but your thoughtfulness will remain and continue to help us as we gradually move on with our lives. Jean, Carl, Mark, Karen, Savannah, John Clark (Jack), and Grandma Myers |
